Nightly Online Writer's Journal
In addition to regular class assignments, you are expected to post to your reflective writer’s journal (blog) four days per week starting this Monday. Each entry will be seven to ten minutes of sustained creative writing. It may include reflections on interesting ideas for writing, short creative pieces, interesting pieces of dialog, musings about nature, responses to videos, experimental writings, random thoughts. Please refrain from chronicling the mundane. Save your “What I am doing right now…” responses for Tweets and Facebook posts. Please.
For ease in identification and to receive credit, you MUST number each journal entry in addition to giving it a relevant title.
If you are stuck for an idea, simply click on one of the links in the handouts section under Writer's Block. If all else fails, seven to ten minutes of freewriting is acceptable. If you wish to keep your thoughts between you and me only, number your entry with a note that you have shared the entry with me through Googledocs at [email protected]. Then share the entry with me.
Although your journal is separate from your portfolio of completed work, it counts toward your portfolio's page total.
Commenting Responsibilities
In addition, at least once per week, each person is expected to read and comment thoughtfully on an entry of interest in two classmates' blogs. You will begin your commenting with the blogs belonging to the two students directly below your own in the class list (see right), and each following week you will do the same for the next two blogs in the list. In this way, each person will read and comment on at least two entries per week at a minimum. Extra entries and comments are welcomed and suggested but not required.
Important: Once you have posted your comment, you are immediately to copy and paste it into the comment audit form here. This is the only way to ensure you receive credit for your comment. Do not save this for the end of the month, as the Googledocs may time out on you causing great frustration for both of us.
See below to set up your Weebly account which you will use to host your journal.
